Auctions

I study search and selection in empirical industrial organization, using and developing new econometric tools to analyze auction and market data. My job market paper explores the interplay between sales, displays, in-store search and demand in retail markets, the first step in a broader research agenda on information frictions, consumer behavior, and supply-side practices in retail markets. I have also done substantial work on the structural analysis of auction data, focusing particularly on environments with selective entry. Finally, my joint work with Yanqin Fan and Tong Li proposes a new class of iterative estimators for moment condition models. My research thus bridges the fields of empirical industrial organization and microeconometrics, with substantial crossovers into marketing.
